Black History Month 2020

Young People's Drawing Competition

On Friday 16 October 2020 we announced the winners and runners-up from our Young People’s Drawing Competition in celebration of Black History Month 2020. Judges focused on the most creative use of art materials and the most imaginative interpretation of the competition theme 'We Have  A Dream That Unites Us'.

We want to convey our heartfelt thanks to all our participants and the adults who encouraged them to enter. All the artwork was amazing and every child is a winner in our eyes. This gallery has been set up to showcase as many of the entries as possible for everyone to view. Many congratulations to all those who took part and especially the winners.

The selected entries helped to create one of our favourite poetry videos called 'We Have A Dream That Unites Us.' It is a poetry presentation that was created to mark the end of Black History Month 2020 in a truly beautiful and holistic way. Like many across the globe, we learnt so much about Black History and realised the efforts of this movement go way beyond the events of just one month. Like Martin Luther King Jr. who spoke of his dream many years ago when he gave that famous speech, this poem gives a voice to the dreams and hopes of all the young people of today, who are truly the future of our world. Thank you to all our little artists from our last drawing competition, whose art work feature in this video. They inspired us to write this poem and we hope it inspires everyone watching immensely. Watch the video here a share the poetry with your family and friends across your social media. Let’s spread this dream far and wide!
